Annually in October, the Jon Slusher 5K Run/Walk partners with the Califon Street Fair for a family fun day. Runners/walkers assemble at 1PM at the Main Street Bridge in Califon to begin one of the most scenic courses in Hunterdon County. Following River Road, the course continues to Hoffman’s Crossing where it jogs left and joins the Columbia Trail. From thence, the course continues on the Columbia Trail and finishes at the old Califon Train Station.

Participants of all ages are welcome. Great post-race food is available at the train station but for those who prefer to experience gourmet foods, the various booths around town will be able to accommodate any one’s preference.
Following the 5K Race, the Children’s 100 yard dash excites those future runners 10 years and under and if the 9 and 10 year olds want to run the adult 5K, they are welcome.
All kids receive participation ribbons, while an award ceremony held at the steps of Rambo’s Store on Main Street is the focal point for trophy winners of the Run/Walk. Trophies are given for overall first place in each of the women’s and men’s categories, and the first place walker. First, second, and third place medals are given for all age groups. Age categories include: ages 9-14; 15-19; 20-29; 30-39; 40-49; 50-59; 60-69; 70-79; 80+
Registration is $25 on line or registration on Race Day at the train station is $30, families of 4 persons are $40 and children 10 years and under are $5.

This is a USATF certified race with a certified course length and accurate timing.
